Eligibility Criteria for RRB Assistant Loco Pilot

Age Limit (As on 01-07-2026):

Minimum Age: 18 Years
Maximum Age: 30 Years
(Standard age relaxations apply for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Ex-Servicemen, and other eligible categories as per Ministry of Railways rules).

Educational & Technical Qualifications Required:

Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualification requirements on or before the closing date. Those waiting for final results are not eligible to apply.

Matriculation / SSLC (10th Pass) from a recognized board plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic, Radio & TV Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic Diesel, Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, or Refrigerator & AC Mechanic.
OR Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the specified trades.
OR Three years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering from a recognized Institution in lieu of ITI.
OR Degree in Engineering disciplines as specified above from a recognized University.

Stringent Medical Standards (A-1 Category):

General Fitness: Physically fit in all respects.
Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses with fogging test (must not accept +2D).
Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 without glasses.
Important Note: Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or any other corrective eye procedures are strictly NOT eligible to apply. Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, and Night Vision.

Selection Process & Scheme

The recruitment process will be managed in multiple shift-based stages using normalized marks scaling:

First Stage CBT (CBT-1): Screening test consisting of 75 questions over 60 minutes with a negative marking of 1/3rd for incorrect answers.
Second Stage CBT (CBT-2): Consists of Part-A (100 questions, 90 mins, counted for shortlisting) and Part-B (75 trade questions, 60 mins, qualifying with 35% marks). Negative marking of 1/3rd applies.
Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): No negative marking.
Document Verification (DV) & Medical Examination (ME).

Examination Language Medium:

The computer-based exams will be available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages, including Assamese and Bengali.
